A WORLD expert in learning support has opened a unit at Durham High School for Girls.
Keda Cowling, author of the groundbreaking "Toe by Toe" scheme of learning, opened the Hadrian Room at the school.
The unit, which will be used as a centre for pupils needing extra tuition, has been named after the sponsor that provided much of its equipment -The Hadrian Trust.
Ms Cowling, who was accompanied by her son, Kelsey, who also works in learning support, travelled from her West Yorkshire home for the ceremony.
Also attending the event were the school's chairman of governors, Bill Hamilton, and governor Val Hamilton, as well as students and parents.
Members of the school's Upper Sixth Buddies group, who help support younger pupils, were presented with certificates from the Cowlings for their services.
