ONE of the premier events in the agricultural calendar promises to be as packed and exciting as ever.
As well as having some of the country's best livestock on show, the 2004 Great Yorkshire Show, at Harrogate, promises activities such as show-jumping, fashion shows, falconry and dog displays, pole climbing and bands.
This year will be the 146th show and it will run from Tuesday to Thursday, July 13 to 15.
Honorary show director Christopher Hall said: "We are looking forward to an excellent three days. The entries for the competitive classes have been flooding in and there's a hive of activity getting the showground ready.
"As well as being a shop window for farming and the countryside, it's a fantastic day out."
Heading the entertainment in the main ring will be the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, who will race across the arena pulling one-and-a-half tonne gun carriages.
Attending this year will be the Earl and Countess of Harewood, Tim Bennett, the new president of National Farmer's Union, and Mark Hudson, president of the Country Land and Business Association.
There will be trade stands, a display of vintage Rolls Royce cars, a museum and a Fun Zone with trampolines, reverse bungee jumping and climbing wall.
