A PENSIONER has died after his moped was involved in a collision with a bicycle being ridden by a young boy.
Eddie Nixon was riding his Suzuki along Norton Road, Stockton, from the direction of Norton, when the incident happened at about 3.30pm on Monday.
It is believed the 72-year-old and the cyclist collided after the boy joined Norton Road from Newlands Avenue.
Mr Nixon, from Thornaby, Teesside, was injured when he fell from his bike.
The boy was believed to have also fallen but got back on his bike and left the scene.
Mr Nixon was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees, Stockton, but died later in the evening.
A police spokesman said: "Mr Nixon's family are devastated to lose him in such tragic circumstances. He was a man who lived for his own company and his motorbikes. He was an excellent rider."
