THE developer of a key business park in the region is in talks to establish a hotel complex on the site.
City and Northern, which is building office space at the Morton Palms development, in Darlington, hopes to attract a leading light in the leisure industry to the site.
Managing director Elliott Ward said: "We are talking to two or three people at the moment for the front end of the site. We want to get the best hotel that we can."
Business people from the region were yesterday given a helicopter flight over the site to see how work was progressing. Two office blocks are already under construction, with the first phase expected to be completed in November.
Mr Ward was confident that a diversity of businesses would be attracted to the site.
He said; "People's perception of Darlington is changing because it has always been viewed that there was not the stock available, compared with Tyne and Wear. Now there is quality accommodation coming to Darlington."
