THREE hospitals have been given a cash boost by the former chairman of Richmondshire District Council, Councillor Michael Heseltine.
Richmond's Friary Hospital, the Friarage Hospital, in Northallerton, and Darlington Memorial Hospital shared £1,800.
The money was raised at social functions, including a coffee morning, quiz night and a draw, during Coun Heseltine's year in office.
Coun Heseltine chose the hospital charities - part of the umbrella group Friends of Local Hospitals - because of the services and support they give to local people.
"I would like to thank everyone who has taken part in fundraising events during the past year and also those who have made individual donations," he said.
"We have raised an impressive amount of money, which will now be used to benefit the community at large."
