A GROUP of North-East bank employees are teaming up for a sponsored run to raise money.
The Co-op Crackers hope to raise £1,200 for Cancer Research UK by taking part in the three-mile Race For Life.
Bosses of branches across the region have pledged to double whatever the 20 workers raise.
Amy Richardson, 22, a customer service advisor at the branch in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, said staff wanted to do the fun run because they all had experience of cancer or knew sufferers.
She said: "Most people are doing it for different reasons.
"Everyone in the branch knows someone who has been affected by cancer so it is important to us."
Races For Life are taking place across the region and the group will take part in the run at Gosforth Racecourse, in Newcastle, on July 17.
They are looking for backing from customers and businesses across the North-East.
To sponsor them, visit one of the branches in Chester-le-Street, Darlington, Durham, Newcastle or Sunderland.
