A TOP primary school has a fresh reason to celebrate after receiving a glowing report from Government inspectors.
Etherley Lane Primary in Bishop Auckland, was hailed by Ofsted inspectors as a 'very effective school' which provides 'very good value for money.'
They found that pupils' achievement is very good overall. Results in English, maths and science secured the school a place in the top five per cent in the country in recent years. For the last two years it appeared in the Sunday Times' list of the 500 best primary schools.
Pupils' behaviour and personal qualities were highlighted and they were said to have 'a very positive attitude to school.'
Teaching was found to be very good, with 97 per cent of teachers said to be good, very good or excellent. On one occasion inspectors said teaching was 'inspirational.'
Staff and governors are thrilled with the report and plan to continue to improve outdoor play areas.
The provision of play areas and equipment for reception children and written records of health and safety checks were the only improvements the inspectors suggested.
The chairman of the governors, John Bradley, said: "I am delighted with the report which I feel is a reflection of the hard work, dedication and professionalism of everyone associated with the school.
