THE Cleveland Hunt Pony Club again hosted the Area 2 Prince Philip Games competition last month.
Despite the last-minute loss of the planned venue, the competition went ahead thanks to the generosity of Mr and Mrs Peter Chapman of Thornton Grange Farm, who stepped in to provide excellent facilities.
Entries were high, with 15 senior and nine junior teams competing for places at the zone finals.
Cleveland's teams, trained by Rebecca Williamson with assistance from her mother, Linda, performed very well.
The very young junior team of Emma Smith, Lauren Jones, Eloise Harrison, Sophie Fletcher and Megan Frost competed with great confidence and are certainly a team for the future.
The senior team of Emma Stokes, Joshua Hockney, Emily Jones, Kristy Hodgson and Amy Johnston were narrowly beaten into second place to qualify for the second year running for the zone finals, to be held in Scotland this month. They are the final stage in qualification for the Horse of the Year Show.
The Cleveland team also qualified for the second year to perform at Bramham.
