A DOG which was pining for its owner has found a new home, thanks to an appeal in The Northern Echo.
Jack, a collie-spaniel cross, was being cared for by the National Animal Sanctuary Support League (NASSL), in Newton Aycliffe, after the death of his owner.
The three-and-a-half-year-old was finding it difficult to come to terms with his loss, but shortly after appearing in the newspaper, the organisation received a call from a couple in Darlington.
The league's Pauline Wilson said: "The couple had lost their dog a few weeks ago and did not know what to do without a dog in the house.
"They saw Jack in The Northern Echo and I went to see them, then they came to see Jack, and they just fell in love with him."
