Federation Special Durham Senior League Under 15s: Hetton Lyons had seven wickets in hand overtaking the Burnmoor total of 76. Ian Marchant was in top form for the Lyons contributing 31 to his team's total of 77 for three, writes Malcolm Pratt.

Felling struggled for runs on their visit to Marsden where they took went down by a seven wickets margin.

The Tynesiders ended with 72 for five before Marsden responded with 73 for three which included 20 not out by Mark Barratt.

Runs were a lot more plentiful for South Shields although opponents Boldon also found run making difficult at Wood Terrace.

Chris Darcey hit an excellent 82 and Adam Dawson 33 in the South Shields total of 165 for five before Boldon were all out for just 44. John Hutton claimed three for seven while Sam Embleton also captured three at a cost of just eight runs.

Federation Special Durham Senior League Under 18s

Chester-le-Street had three wickets in hand defeating Eppleton when the sides met at Ropery Lane.

Batting first, Eppleton were all out for 80 and most of the runs came from Scott Borthwick with 24, Anthony Anderson (23) and Michael Lauder (21). Michael Ecclestone was in splendid form with the ball for the Cestrians claiming four wickets for just 21 runs and John Coxon took three for nine.

In reply, Chester-le-Street reached the target with three wickets remaining as Coxon scored 21 and both Anthony McTaggart and Darren Redfearn scored 20 not out. Borthwick followed up his batting performance claiming four wickets for just six runs and Matthew Hooper returned an analysis of two for 16.

Gateshead Fell overtook the Philadelphia total of 90 for seven with five wickets remaining while Durham City dismissed Felling for 39 and went on to win losing just three wickets.

Whitburn were also comfortable winners over Seaham Harbour at the Village Ground. Seaham Harbour managed just 61 for nine as Shaun Prosser took three for 11 and in response Whitburn totalled 52 for two including 28 by Anthony Gilbert.

South Shields had the better of Sunderland in the local derby at Wood Terrace finishing nine wicket winners. Wake ended with 24 not out in the Sunderland total of 27 for five and for Shields, Chris Nichol took two of the five wickets for 13 runs.

When they went into bat South Shields lost an early wicket before Michael Dunn (38no) and Nichol (31no) formed an unbroken partnership for the second wicket which earned their side victory.

Burnmoor defeated Hetton Lyons by ten wickets after restricting the visitors to 79 for three which included 38 by Marchment. Ben Embleton then scored an unbeaten 47 and Dan Pearson 33 not out in the Burnmoor reply of 80 without loss.

The Readers Durham County League Under 18s

Ushaw Moor secured a six wickets victory at home to Crook Town after restricting their opponents to 104 for four in 20 overs.

Michael Fawcett top scored with 44 and Christopher Guy and Lee Formosa both contributed 21 to the useful Crook total while for Ushaw Moor Scott Nattrass captured two of the four wickets to fall for 35 runs.

In reply, Ushaw Moor posted 105 for four and again Craig Usher was in good form scoring 35. Scott Nattrass finished unbeaten on 24 and Andrew Rafferty scored 23. Barry was in good form with the ball for Crook Town taking three wickets at the meagre of cost of 12 runs.

Brandon had just three runs to spare at Willington who replied with 96 for nine including 23 by Chris Wearmouth. Ian Myers was Brandon's match winner with the ball taking four wickets for only 21 runs.

Earlier, Brandon realised 99 for three and almost half the runs came from Andrew Johnson with 47. Myers also struck form with the bat contributing 27.

Langley Park had 30 runs to spare at home to Esh Winning who were restricted to 78 as Dinsdale claimed four wickets for just 16 runs.

David Wilkinson led the Langley Park innings to 108 for seven when he finished undefeated on 53 and for Esh Winning, Jamie Simpson had two for 27 and Ryan McCourt two for 30. At Washington, Tudhoe lost by five wickets. Incredibly, Fox scored 81 of the Tudhoe total of 93 for six before Washington replied with 95 for five including 35 by Stephen Cuthbertson and 21 from Mark Lee.

Shildon were all out for just 49 and Evenwood won by nine wickets while Sedgefield did even better securing a ten wickets success over Mainsforth, who totalled 49 for eight. Bishop Auckland made a useful 109 for four but still lost by eight wickets at Etherley whose match winner was Carl McGregor with an unbeaten 60.

The Readers Durham County League Under 15s

Evenwood had eight wickets and almost six wickets to spare defeating Tudhoe who realised 73 for five in 20 overs when they batted first.

Ross Hodgson was top scorer with 14 for Tudhoe while for Evenwood, Lee Forster, Ryan Nicholson, Matthew McConnell and Gareth Matthews all took one wicket. The four youngsters each bowled five overs.

Replying, Evenwood were indebted to Nicholson who hit four boundaries in 39 not out and to Forster for his contribution of 20.

Shildon had 38 runs in hand of Etherley whom they dismissed for 51 as Stephen Young returned three for 16, Chris Tweddle three for five and Mark Collinson two for 11.

When they made first use of the wicket, Shildon ended with 89 for seven on the board which included 40 by man of the match Tweddle who hit one six and five boundaries.

Glenn Robinson Trophy

South Shields comfortably progressed to the second round with a ten wicket victory over Eppleton on Sunday morning.

When they made first use of the wicket, Eppleton realised 74 for the loss of five wickets and their top performer with the bat was Scott Borthwick who ended unbeaten on 46. The target though quickly evaporated once Chris Darcey (39) and Chris Watson (24) went to work with the bat for South Shields.

William Orton Under 18 Cup

Boldon CA qualified to meet Dawdon in the final which will be played at Silksworth on Sunday July 18. Ryhope posted a commendable 101 for seven but Boldon ran out winners by an eight wicket margin as Gary Frater finished undefeated on 71. Kevin Straugheir contributed a useful 20 runs. Batting first Ryhope were indebted to Greg Arundal for his 58.
