THREE dinner ladies were treated to lunch after clocking up a total of 75 years' service.
Catering company Scolarest, which feeds County Durham's pupils, took the long-serving employees to lunch at Bistro 21, Aykley Heads, Durham City, to celebrate the occasion.
At the lunch, each dinner lady was presented with a bouquet of flowers, a certificate of service and a 25-year pin brooch.
The staff members were Margaret Horseman, assistant cook at Fyndoune Community College, Sacriston; Carol Hinks, unit manager at Woodham Burn Junior, Newton Aycliffe; and Margaret Paul, unit manager at Easington Primary School.
Julie Hutchfield, who works at Chilton Primary School and has also completed 25 years in school catering, could not attend the meal, but was separately presented with the celebration gifts.
"All the ladies are real stars and we can't thank them enough for their hard work," said Terry Tyson, Scolarest senior operations manager.
"It was lovely to be able to treat them to lunch for a change and to show them how much we think of them."
