ARTS projects across the county have been awarded thousands of pounds in the latest round of grants from the Arts Council England, Yorkshire.

Forty-five projects in Yorkshire and the Humber region will receive grants from the National Lottery and the Government worth a total of £382,481.

Among the successful projects is Connecting Youth Culture, a creative arts project which works with young people all over North Yorkshire.

It has been given £19,520 to hold its 2004 Youth Arts Festival in Harrogate on July 9 and 10.

The festival will include work by professional companies and young people, film, dance and theatre.

Wilson+Wilson Company, makers of site-specific art and theatre, has been awarded £30,000 to create a site-specific performance in Mulgrave Woods, near Whitby, in June next year.

A team of artists works with local people and relevant experts to create an event combining live performance, visual art, sound, music and text.

Openings, a newly established group of artists in Richmondshire, has won £3,177. The group will hold its inaugural exhibition in Marrick during the Swaledale Music Festival.
