A WIDE-RANGING programme of events is under way as part of the celebrations for the first National Parks' Week.
The week runs until July 9 and aims to raise awareness of the landscape, lifestyle and recreational opportunities offered by the 13 national parks in England and Scotland.
In the Yorkshire Dales, visitors will be able to take part in organised walks and see craft demonstrations and photographic exhibitions.
On Wednesday, the disused mines and lime kilns around Carperby can be explored during a seven-kilometre walk starting from Aysgarth Falls National Park Centre at 2pm.
On the same day, Lower Wharfedale ranger Phil Edwards will hold a free drystone walling demonstration at the Dales Countryside Museum, Hawes, from 2pm.
The museum is also hosting a demonstration of traditional woolcrafts on Tuesday, from 2pm.
An exhibition of photographs by Tessa Bunney, showing the people and landscape of Nidderdale, will be on show at the museum throughout the week.
