CHILDREN at a Chester-le-Street school staged a play of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
Pelton Community Primary School youngsters worked hard to bring the Roald Dahl story to life.
Their show was based on the film starring Gene Wilder and featured all the classic music including The Candyman and the Oompa-Loompa song.
Parents and teachers helped out with the colourful set designs and costumes.
Director of performing art Edward Jackson said: "The main theme was that Charlie is from a poor background and he is one of the chosen few who got to visit the factory.
"All of the other children were from rich backgrounds but it is him who got to take over the factory in the end."
