YOUNGSTERS from across the region will learn about life in the Royal Navy this week.
About 200 pupils aged 11 to 16 from North-East schools are taking part in the Royal Navy Challenge, at RMR Newcastle, home of the Royal Marines Reserve.
Lieutenant Colonel David Concarr, North-East Navy recruitment officer, said: "This event aims to give youngsters a chance to take part in a range of hands-on activities and experience what challenges may befall them within the service."
Working in teams, they will face a series of problem-solving and leadership tasks, including building a fan-operated model car. The event runs from today until Thursday
