THOMAS the Tank Engine puffed his way into Darlington Railway Museum at the weekend, to the delight of thousands of children.
The little engine and his pals, Bertie the Bus, Devious Diesel and George the Steamroller, were at the museum in North Road on Saturday and Sunday, offering rides to young and old fans.
There was also a Fat Controller mystery trail, a giant slide, face-painting, bouncy castles, Punch and Judy shows, a hoopla, craft workshops, fairground rides and a miniature train ride.
Railway museum education officer John Beeley said: "I think over the course of the weekend we have had six or seven thousand children in.
"Everyone has really enjoyed themselves and it has surpassed our expectations."
