A PUB is appealing for people with a sense of adventure to help it raise money for cancer charities.

The Brown Trout, Sunnybrow, near Willington, County Durham, is to launch a month of fundraising activities to boost funds for the Butterwick Hospice at Bishop Auckland, and Macmillan Nurses.

The highlight of the activities will be the pub's third annual charity fun day, on Sunday, September 26, which will feature plenty of entertainment.

Stephen Longhorn, who runs the pub, is laying down the gauntlet to those who want to try an Ejection Bungee and raise money at the same time.

He said: "We need at least 60 people to take part. Each one must raise a minimum of £80 to qualify for a free go and there is a trophy for the person who raises the most money.

"We are also appealing to anyone who would like to donate items for a raffle or auction, or businesses who would like to sponsor events along with pubs and clubs who would like to stage charity nights throughout our charity month."

Anyone who would like to take part or make a donation can contact Mr Longhorn on (01388) 746454.
