YOUNGSTERS in Darlington are being urged to turn their back on drugs and take up sports in a campaign.
The Muaythai Against Drugs initiative is being backed by Darlington Boxing and Martial Arts Academy and promoted in schools across the town.
As part of the drive, a dance night for youngsters aged 13 to 17, will be held in Berlins, in Grange Road, on Thursday, July 15, from 7.30pm to 10.30pm.
Disc jockeys featured will include MC Tink, MC Stedd, MC Bee-tee, Mike Hawkes, DJ Matrix, MC Turbo-D and Papa V. Leaflets will be available outlining the sporting activities on offer in the town.
Tickets cost £5 and are available from the Dolphin Centre on (01325) 388410 or from the boxing club on (01325) 369655.
Organiser Paul Hamilton said: "Hopefully we'll be looking to run one of these events every month.
"Tickets will sell out fast, so people will need to book in advance."
