Earlier starters had the best of the playing conditions. Midway through the afternoon the course was struck by a severe thunderstorm and play had to be suspended for one hour. Some players fearful of a repeat retired. But the brave who continued had difficulty in mastering the soggy conditions, particularly on the greens.
With three best gross scores to count Knaresborough A triumphed by 3 strokes over Harrogate A. The runners-up prize, to the team with three lowest nett scores, went to Bedale B, with Harrogate A again finishing second, 3 shots behind.

Sally Kitson (Masham) with a nett 73 won the best Nett, one shot fewer than Margaret Newton (Otley).
