Worthington CIU Summer League: Stanley Central lost their first game of the season but they did it in such style that it cost them the top spot in the Second Division with their conquerors Bearpark A taking over, two points ahead. Alan Smith, Andy Donaldson, Glen Morton, Shaun Easter and Steve Gott were the Bearpark scorers at Stanley
Wheatley Hill A dropped two valuable points on their visit to Meadowfield and this cost them their lead at the top of the First Division as Fishburn A scored whitewash success at home to Willington to cut the gap to one point. Sherburn Village are in third place a further seven points adrift.
Dean Bryden put Wheatley Hill A ahead at Meadowfield but Ian Hodgson and Stephen Hughes won for the home side only to see Alan Hall level the match. The Hill went to victory when Dave walker beat Martin Halliday in the decider.
Brian Quest put in a 34 break for Fishburn A, who also has wins from John Griffin, Alan Buist, Charlie Hirst and John Carter as they closed the gap at the top with their maximum home win over Willington.
Sherburn Village pulled off a good odd point away win at Brandon with wins from Alan Greener, John Bower and Scott Mallaburn whilst Colin Goodrick and Brian Graham replied for Brandon.
Spennymoor A, the reigning champions, struggled through in the decider against the visiting Newton Aycliffe. Paul Atkinson and Paul Biddle put the Moors ahead but Stuart Neil and John Briddick equalised. John Wilson took the Moors to victory by beating Richie Young in the decider.
Newhouse slipped from their former third place in the First Division when they only managed one point from their trip to Witton Gilbert. Paul Wright put the visitors ahead but that was their only point as Danny Craggs, Ian Renwick, John Rooney senior and John Rooney junior completed the home victory.
Newly promoted Crowtrees A are going to have to find some improvement if they are not to go straight back down. On their visit to Shotton Palms they only managed to pick up one point when Sonny Hann won. The palms had points from Dave Swindle, Jimmy Evans, James Evans junior and John Armstrong.
New Durham moved up to share second place in the Second Division with Stanley Central after they only dropped one point to the visiting Durham City, who had Michael Pratt as their only winner. The home side's points came from Neil Phillips, Thomas Cairns, Gordon Bowes and Phil Garr.
Coundon A moved a point behind the joint second placed teams when they only dropped one point at Wheatley Hill B. The home side's only points came from Keith Connor with a 39 break, whilst Dennis Payne, Mally Ryder with a 34 break, Frank Nicholson and Willy Shoulder won for the visitors.
Crook Belle Vue are still looking for their second victory after seeing a two-nil lead frittered away to the visiting Old Shildon. Harold Lomax took a re-spotted black and John Warriner took the second frame to put Crook ahead but Martin Taylor and Peter Coates levelled. In the decider Shildon's Paul Armstrong put in a 43 break to beat Ken Rider.
Langley Park were never headed in their home game against Ferryhill A. Lenny Thompson put the Park ahead but Neil Spender levelled. Stephen Coates restored the Park's lead only to see Keith Wood equalise. In the decider Langley's Lawrence Jones beat Glyn Toas.
Third Division leaders, Sacriston were taken to the decider before they beat their hosts at Crowtrees B. Paul Moralee and Jimmy Richardson won for the home team with Alan Richardson and Mark Appleby replying. In the decider Sacriston's Mike Pritchard beat Carl Welsh.
Fishburn B moved up to second place, seven points behind Sacriston after they whitewashed their hosts at Tow Law A with wins from Michael Bell, Winston Hodgson, Andrew Nicks, George Whitelock and Paul Nicks.
Hunwick moved a point behind Fishburn B after winning by the odd point at Bearpark B. The home side had wins from Rob Lumley and Paul Wilson, whilst John Bate, Barry Fleming and Neville Blenkinsopp took the visitors to victory.
The Victoria went two up at Leeholme A with wins from Ronnie Murray and John Facey but then the home side took over to win with points from Andrew Roe, Ray Gill and Karl Thompson.
Ferryhill B looked to on for maximum points when they took the first four frames against the visiting Tow Law B through David nelson, Billy Roddam, Terry Roddam and Chjris Buston until John Wilson broke the Lawyers duck.
Gareth Duff, David Lidster and Steve Bainbridge took Coundon B to a home win against Leeholme B, who had wins from John Taylor and Lee Todd.

Darlington Snooker Club B came from behind to beat the visiting Northgate and move forward into the semi-finals of the League Knock Out Cup. The home side went down in the first two frames when Shaun Rodgers lost to Dave Spencer and Simon Robson beat Mick Allison. However Andrew Cuthbertson became the Snooker Club's saviour when his big win over Peter Smith put them into the lead and Alan Dixon made certain of victory when the beat Clive Miller in the final frame.
Results: Rise Carr lost to Barnard Castle Glaxo; Hopetown beat Darlington Snooker A; Newton Aycliffe Southerne Club lost to Bishop Auckland Cricket Club; Darlington Snooker B beat Northgate.
