Castle Eden under 13's played Seaham Park at the weekend in a Durham Coast League game. Seaham Park batted first and put on a good score for Castle Eden to chase with 120 runs for five wickets in the 20 overs game. However Castle Eden won the match without needing to bat the full 20 overs. The six Eden bowlers did well, as well as bowling against the opposition they also had the torrential rain to contend with and had to leave the field of play at one point as the downpour was so heavy.
Keith Bailey four overs, one maiden, one wkt for 11 runs, Callum Harding three overs, one maiden for 20 runs, Martin Dunn two overs for 17 runs, Ross Kirtley four overs for 16 runs, one wkt, Christopher Freeman four overs for 23 runs, Craig Thirlaway three overs for 10 runs, two wkts.
Castle Eden put in a very good batting performance eventhough at times they were playing in the heavy monsoon like rain.
The two opening batsmen put on and impressive performance with Keith Bailey running up 47 and Ross Kirtley 42. Martin Dunn also ran up 17 not out and Christopher Freeman five not out.
Under 15s match against Peterlee at Helford Road was called off on Monday evening because of the wet weather.
