Talkin Tarn held their annual regatta on Saturday and it had their largest ever entry of over 340 crews, which led to an early start and late finish for the competitors of Durham Amateur Rowing Club. The junior contingent again performed wel.
There were wins for G. Thorpe J11 1X, C. Tully J12 1X, H. Preston WJ13 1X, P. Walton J 1X, T. Edwards and S. Whitfield J13 2X, A. Scurfield and P. Jones WJ13 2X, T. Edwards, S. Whitfield, C. Tully, C. Howie and V. Elder (cox) J13 4X+.
Due to an accident Yarm School were unable to attend, other clubs joined forces to try and keep the racing programme as full as possible, one such crew comprised of D. Howie, F. Steel and V. Elder (cox) from Darc and two scullers from Tyne Rowing Club using a Talkin Tarn Boat who won J14 4X+.
There were also wins for J. Appleby VE 1X, C. Edwards WVD 1X, C. Scholl and R. Hill WVD/E 2X and a win for WS4 8+.
The next competition for some of our scullers is the National Championships of Great Britain which is being held at Holme Pierrepoint, Nottingham on the 16-18th July.
