A SERVICE has been set up in Newton Aycliffe to help unemployed people from the western part of the town find jobs.

Linda Hind will be available to offer an individually tailored job hunting support service in the Neighbourhood Management Resource office, in Silverdale Place, every Tuesday and Wednesday, between 9am and 4pm.

Ms Hind has already run a number of surgeries and is keen to hear from anyone who is not working at the moment, but would like to get back into employment or obtain their first job.

She said: "It is early days yet, but we have had some successes, including a lady who came in to see me and, within an hour, we had an interview set up with a major retail employer.

"As well as searching for work, I can help prepare CVs, sort out grants to help buy tools and equipment, or clothing for work, in addition to providing stationery and stamps to post off those job applications."
