YOUNGSTERS have taken part in a school's last production before it amalgamates with its neighbours.
Pupils at Whinfield Junior School in Darlington have spent weeks practicing for a performance of the musical Bugsy Malone.
The school is to join forces with the infants, probably at the start of the next school year, making this year the last of its kind.
There were three performances of the play, two for parents and one for the whole school, which took place last Thursday morning. Teachers Carol Young, Carrie Chappell and Helen Downes spent four weeks rehearsing with the Year 6 pupils who took part in the show.
Miss Young said: "The children have done it all, they've made the props, the costumes and scenery, planned all the scenes and the songs."
