COUNCIL chiefs in Darlington are expected to agree a new set of rules governing the town's cemeteries tomorrow.
The borough council's cabinet will be asked to approve new regulations for North, East and West cemeteries and Darlington Crematorium and revoke regulations made in 1975.
The 1975 regulations restrict the size of headstones, meaning stonemasons often have to alter standard size memorials.
A council spokesman said: "The regulations are almost 30 years old and in need of revision.
"Monumental masons and funeral directors has requested changes to the size of memorials to reflect greater choice."
