TWO North-East apprentices have won national awards for their work during training in construction skills.
Build Center, which provides heavy building products and materials, presented Steven Thompson and David Simpson with prizes in recognition of their skill and achievement.
Steven, of Sandown Road, Billingham, Teesside, who works for Lowe and Simpson in Stockton, was awarded a £100 voucher and a certificate of achievement.
Steve Crowe, lead training officer at Stockton council, said: "Steven has shown total commitment to becoming a competent and qualified joiner, always working hard with a determination to succeed."
David, 18, of Brantwood Terrace, Bishop Auckland, County Durham, also received £100 and a certificate. He works for Waltons, of Shildon.
His course instructor, Colin Pollard, said: "I have been extremely pleased by David's overall performance."
David Hunter, brand director at Build Center, said: "These awards are part of Build Center's ongoing support of the drive to recruit more people into the industry.
"Training that provides the right skills and encourages quality workmanship is essential to ensure high standards of safety and service.
"We are proud to recognise the achievements of at least some of these new trainees through these awards."
