A COMPANY that has revamped a former wool factory in Darlington has won an award.
The Marchday Group, which is transforming the former Paton and Baldwins factory into offices at Lingfield Point, Darlington, won a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) property management award.
Jennifer Welch, RICS North-East regional director, said: "This is a well deserved award. For many years, Lingfield Point was caught in a spiral of decline, with no prospect of attracting new tenants and businesses.
"In 1997, the Marchday Group purchased the site and spent in excess of £14m pounds improving the buildings and infrastructure and in the process, they have shifted the profile of the site from an industrial estate to a successful business park."
Lingfield Point was also shortlisted earlier this year for the RICS North-East Renaissance Awards, which recognise excellence throughout the region.
