A TEENAGER killed his step-grandfather after he was ordered out of his home for being drunk, a court heard.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named, lashed out at the 57-year-old after he was told he could no longer stay with him due to his behaviour.
Newcastle Crown Court heard how the youth, now 17, was living with his step-grandfather in Doxford Park, Sunderland, but had been drinking in pubs and had also taken cocaine and half an Ecstasy tablet on August 21, last year.
His step-grandfather, who had a history of strokes, heart disease, emphysema and had previously had a heart attack and a coronary bypass, told the drunken teenager he could no longer stay with him when he arrived home drunk.
Ben Nolan, prosecuting, told the trial the teenager elbowed and punched his step-grandfather in the face before throwing him to the floor, where he suffered a fatal heart attack.
The teenager then ran off leaving his step-grandfather, who had married the teen's maternal grandmother, lying in the hallway.
He was pronounced dead in hospital despite attempts at resuscitation.
The teenager denies manslaughter and the trial continues.
