THE 100th closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera to be installed in Darlington has gone online.
The device is in place in North Lodge Park and has started transmitting pictures to the town hall control room.
And the move will act as a catalyst for the forthcoming refurbishment of the 101-year-old park.
Darlington Borough Council was successful in its recent bid for £270,000 of National Lottery funding and improvements will include play equipment, footpaths and lighting.
CCTV was introduced in the town in 1994. More cameras are planned, including two in North Cemetery and two for South Park as part of its £3.9m refurbishment.
