NURSERY school children will be going back to the Sixties in a performance for parents this afternoon.
The production by youngsters at Broom Cottages Nursery School in Ferryhill features a medley of songs from the 1950s and 1960s.
The children, aged three and four have been practising the songs for the past two months. They will be dressed in outfits from the era and the performance will include readings about what life was like then.
Songs in the show include Yellow Submarine, Summer Holiday, Rock Around the Clock and Let's Twist Again.
Nursery teacher Hilary Todd said she was amazed how the children had learned the songs considering the amount of words.
She said: "It's absolutely superb to hear them. Of course I didn't realise at first that the children don't know any of the songs and some of the parents are only 18 and 19 and they don't know them either."
The performance will be the last for nursery nurse Mary Thomas, who is retiring after 11 years at the school.
