A PRIMARY school is looking forward to a bright future after a £250,000 transformation that included the creation of a community technology suite.
Our Lady and St Thomas RC Primary School, in Willington, has been rededicated and blessed by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle, Bishop Kevin Dunn.
The rededication included the opening of an information communication technology (ICT) room, which will enhance the school's use of modern technology.
Part of the school kitchen and a cloakroom were used for the suite and to provide disabled toilets.
The bishop said: "This project demonstrates the importance of partnership, the local education authority, governors, teachers the whole school community.
"Especially important is the partnership between our teachers and parents to help bring children up in practice and life of faith."
The school is part of a number of schools chosen to develop technology by working together and with Parkside Comprehensive School.
Headteacher Frances Gowland said: "This has been an exciting year during the refurbishment. We recognise how lucky we are to be part of the ICT testbed and these new facilities give us many new opportunities."
