A YOUNG chef has celebrated a second bite at life by cooking up a treat for the firm that helped him realise his dreams.
Jason Lax served up a feast for Benny Higgins, chief executive retail banking of the Royal Bank of Scotland, to thank the firm for supporting the Fairbridge charity, which runs life training courses for young and disadvantaged people.
Jason, 21, who until recently was a client with Fairbridge, in Teesside, has landed a job as a chef in a hotel in Aberfeldy. He spent time with the charity which helped him to overcome personal problems and supported him through his training to become a chef.
He said: "Fairbridge made a tremendous difference to my life. Without them I would not be here now. They helped me turn my life around and gave me the support I needed to find direction and to achieve my goals."
Tom Watson, director of the charity, said: "The support from the bank allows us to run courses that give young people the chance to develop the essential life skills that many of us take for granted, such as living on a budget, maintaining a tenancy and living healthily, without which they would find life very difficult."
