AN Army sergeant went back to school yesterday to hand over the proceeds of a gruelling fundraising marathon.
Pete Fyfe, a staff sergeant at the Army Foundation College, in Harrogate, ran 41 miles in six hours to raise money for the town's New Park Primary School.
His six-year-old daughter, Caitlin, attends the school, and his five-year-old son, Kieran, will start there next half-term.
His efforts raised £5,275.08 and yesterday he donned his full ceremonial uniform to hand over the cash and two new computers.
He offered to do the sponsored run when the school said it was hoping to buy extra computers and IT equipment for classrooms.
He said: "It is quite a lot of money and the school are quite excited about it."
Staff Sgt Fyfe fought during the last Gulf War and was seriously injured in a friendly fire incident in which nine British soldiers lost their lives.
