FIVE students were presented with certificates yesterday and praised for giving up their spare time to work as community sports leaders.
Headteacher Paul Harrison made the wards at Teesdale Comprehensive School, in Barnard Castle.
The sixth formers who received the awards were Joanne Lamb, Hannah Stephenson, Marc Davies, Kevin Maughan and Joanne Meads.
Similar work was done by six other students, Philip Brown, Mark Fletcher, Helen Bainbridge, Wayne Thwaites, Fiona Williams and Emma Sellwood, who will receive their certificates at a later date.
They all ran sports sessions for pupils from local primary schools, and for adults with special needs.
Mr Harrison said they were all a credit to the school and to the Teesdale community.
