Young cyclists have taken part in a road safety awareness scheme which may be extended throughout east Cleveland.
The pupils, from Ings Farm Primary School in Redcar, who are all regular cyclists, have been given on-road training followed by tests during afternoon sessions.
Emily Jackson, Robyn Downey, Maddison Allenden, Daniel Edmunds and Connor Donoghue were randomly selected by the school to take part in the pilot scheme, which Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council hopes will be extended to all its schools.
Road safety manager Mike Hall said it was on-road training which made it more realistic.
He said: "We're looking at the needs of the children, what they want to do and trying to solve any problems they have in cycling to and from school."
The school's deputy headteacher Tim Bethell said: "We want the children to gain an increased awareness of the dangers of using a bike on the road."
