PLANS for a new physiotherapy service for people with multiple sclerosis (MS) have taken a step forward.
Development of the service follows meetings held last month in Leyburn and Northallerton by Hambleton and Richmondshire Primary Care Trust (PCT).
People with MS were encouraged to suggest how they would like to see the service develop.
As a result, priorities have been agreed, including exercise sessions, an MS database, direct access to services and one-to-one home assessment and advice.
Exercise sessions will run fortnightly from September in Leyburn, Northallerton, Richmond and Thirsk, on a six-month pilot basis.
Anyone interested will need to book a screening appointment on (01609) 764207, between 8.30am and 9.30am.
The development follows the appointment of Anna Newell as the PCT's specialist community physiotherapist
She said: "We hope people will soon start to see an improvement in the service offered to them."
