PAUL Collingwood had an injection in his injured knee yesterday and hopes to be fit for Durham's totesport League match at home to division two leaders Middlesex on Sunday, writes Tim Wellock.
Durham lie fourth and promotion in the one-day league is all they have left to play for this season other than pride as they go into their final Twenty20 game tonight with no hope of progress.
But coach Martyn Moxon is still keen to win the Riverside clash against his former county, and prior to watching last night's Roses match at Headingley he said: "Whether Yorkshire can still qualify for the quarter-finals or not we will field the best team we have available.
"It could include Andy Blignaut, but we'll see how he is. If he's feeling jetlagged there will not be much point in playing him."
The Zimbabwean was due at Newcastle airport at 10pm last night and will stay until mid-August. He has signed a three-year contract with Tasmania, who are keen for him to join them for their pre-season work, but Durham hope he will stay for the home championship match against Somerset, starting on August 13.
That would be his third four-day match, while he will also play in five totesport games.
After failing the test on his injured groin on Tuesday afternoon, it is expected that Marcus North will be fit to return tonight.
Durham were also thinking of pulling Nicky Peng out of the Second X1 Championship match against Lancashire at South Northumberland had he batted yesterday.
But Durham fielded on the first day and the management are keen for Peng to have a long knock today.
