PUPILS at a Crook primary school are giving a popular fairy story a modern twist, with the help of a favourite author.
Writer Roald Dahl wrote a version of the Snow White story in his bestselling book Revolting Rhymes.
It goes on stage in St Cuthbert's RC Primary School today, with all junior classes taking part.
Year five teacher Tricia Whitfield has produced the show, which will be performed at 2.15pm and 6.30pm, and parent Linda Robinson made the costumes.
The plot follows Snow White, played by Danielle Shuttleworth, as she teams up with seven jockeys, using racing tips from the magic mirror to bet on certain winners and make their fortunes.
Headteacher Barbara Simpson said: "It is a typical Roald Dahl zany story and the children have loved taking part. It is full of catchy songs and music."
Tickets cost £1 and are available from the school on (01388) 762889.
