Richmond Dales: Seven swimmers attended the Durham University Aquatics first gala for swimmers who had not achieved National Qualifying times.
All swam well and recorded 31 personal best times and achieving eight first places.
Alec Wann continued his recovery from injury winning 3 Golds in the 100m, 200m and ,400m Freestyle and 200m Individual Medley, he also finished 2nd in the 200m and 100m Backstroke and 100m Breaststroke.
Nicola Burlinson, 10 years, swam well to win the 200m Breaststroke in a PB time.
Ryan Bishop took 1st place in the 200m Breaststroke and the 200m Individual Medley showing a new competitive streak to his swimming.
Rebecca Henderson swam a 400m Individual Medley competitively for the first time and finished first, while Catherine Henderson finished 2nd in the 12 year age group both coping well with a very demanding event.
Jacob Attwood was narrowly beaten in the 400m Freestyle in spite of taking 5 sec off his PB. He also finished 2nd in the 100m Butterfly, 100m Freestyle, and the 200m Individual Medley.
* On Sunday, July 11 a presentation barbeque was held at the Holly Hill Inn Richmond and arranged by the hosts Mr and Mrs Burke. The evening was attended by 125 parents and club members.
At the gala 11 Gala best times were recorded. Ryan Livingstone the club captain, recorded 3 of these 1.02.91 for 100m Butterfly, 1.03.04.for 100m Backstroke and 1.04.85 for the 100m Individual Medley. Joe Potts also broke the gala best times for the 100m Butterfly 1.02.89 and 100m Individual Medley 1.04.93.
Sam Sanderson recorded 57.93 eor 100m Freestyle, another swimmer to break the minute in this event.
Catherine and Rebecca Henderson, sisters, broke the gala best time in the 100m Freestyle, dead-heating in a time of 1.12.63. They also broke the 100m Butterfly record Rebecca with 1.27.57 and Catherine with 1.22.84.
Jacob Attwood an 11 year old broke the gala best tim for 100m Butterfly in 1.25.00 which was also a PB Time.
