Cleveland County

English Bowling Federation Northern Area Championship

Following the triumphs of Cleveland County Bowling Association's under-25 team, powerful back to back performances against Northumberland and Nottinghamshire have also given the senior team a chance of national honours for the county. The Adams team won both matches but the Newton team's overall position in their division is the stronger. With one match to play Cleveland who were in joint top spot with Derbyshire gained a 20-2 win over Nottinghamshire meaning that Derbyshire in their last match against Durham on Saturday, July 17 must win 5 out of 6 rinks by a clear 28 shots to take the title. Any slip up by Derbyshire will let Cleveland's Newton team join the under 25 team in the national finals at Skegness in August for the first time in their history.
