FOUR-year-old Ruby Lingwood is the envy of her friends after making her debut on the hit pre-school TV show Balamory.

The youngster, from Fulford, York, won a competition in the Balamory magazine.

Together with her mother and grandmother, she was taken to Tobermory, on the Isle of Mull, where the show, which follows the adventures of the community, is filmed.

Ruby spent the day filming with the cast, and her screen debut will be featured in a future episode of the award-winning show.

Ruby's mother, Becky, said: "We were so excited - especially when we met the characters. It felt like we were in a dream."
