A SCHOOL sports team which is on a tour of Canada has been helped on its way by a bathroom company.
A group of 27 pupils and staff from Polam Hall Girls School have left for a ten-day lacrosse and netball tour.
Their departure was helped by a series of fundraising events, which culminated in a prize draw.
First prize, a £500 bathroom from Bathroom World, in Darlington, was won by Paula Forrest, whose daughter, Dominique, is taking part in the tour.
Other prizes included a champagne breakfast at Imperial Express and a pair of tickets for a Newcastle United home football match.
Headteacher Marie Green said: "We wish the girls a wonderful trip, this is sure to get their summer holidays off to a flying start.
"As well as looking forward to the challenge of playing their favourite sports against their fellow international pupils, they are sure to make many new friends and gather a lifetime of memories."
