A MULTI-cultural school has been praised by Government inspectors for promoting racial harmony.
Cromwell Road Primary School, South Bank, was described by an Ofsted inspection team as a very effective school, where good teaching ensures that pupils achieve well in lessons.
The inspectors also said that the promotion of relationships and racial harmony was excellent, making a significant contribution to the family atmosphere in the school.
Headteacher Brenda Urwin, whose leadership and management was cited as one of the school's main strengths, said: "We are delighted at what has been a very positive report on the school, recognising the efforts everyone makes towards creating a good learning environment for all our children."
According to the team's report, staff value all pupils equally as individuals, whatever their needs, and work hard to make sure that they get the best from their time in school.
It describes nursery and reception provision as very good, and the quality of education and teaching receive 'good' ratings.
The school is already working to implement ian action plan, which includes a strategy to improve the rate of pupils' progress in religious education.
