Three DFR members took part in last week's Saltwell Harriers fell race, which is held near Stanhope in Weardale. Steve Lumb was first home for the club in sixth place followed by Patrick Bonnet 30th and Helen Witham 46th.
Sam and Stu Ferguson travelled to the Peak District to compete in the parent and offspring class of the Polaris Challenge. The event is a mountain bike, score orienteering challenge where the competitors ride for seven hours on the Saturday and five on the Sunday; visiting as many checkpoints as possible in the time allocated. Sam and Stu covered 42 miles over the weekend.
Also covering 42 miles, this time on foot, were Grainne Archbold and Gerry Hehir who competed in the annual Lyke Wake race on Saturday.
* The club holds weekly training sessions in Hamsterly Forest on Thursday evenings, meeting between 6.45pm and 7pm at the visitor centre. These sessions are developed in conjunction with the only fell running coach in the North-East.
