CHILDREN are being invited to become archaeologists this summer at one of the region's most famous addresses.
As part of the More 4 Kids programme which is being held at Castle Howard, near Malton, youngsters can take part in hands-on activities from July 22 to September 1.
They can sieve through soil to locate finds, learn about the different soil layers and get involved in cleaning, identifying and dating finds.
Drawing activities will include reproducing what can be seen in the trench, recreating what whole pots looked like from the fragments found and reconstructing animals from the bones they left behind.
Those taking part can also enter their drawings into a competition to win one-on-one tuition at Castle Howard with members of the archaeology team.
