A DARLINGTON primary school headteacher was greeted by 75 lookalikes yesterday.
Year six pupils at Whinfield Junior School imitated their headteacher, Pauline Wood, by donning wigs, suits, pointy shoes, lipstick and long nails at an end-of-year assembly.
Ms Wood had been acting headteacher for the past year.
The school is amalgamating with Whinfield Infant School and yesterday was Ms Wood's last day in her post.
"It's been a great year and this was a real surprise. It was a great idea and a really nice thing to do," she said.
"The children and the parents all put so much work into it, even the boys. Some of them don't want to take the costumes off."
