A GROUP of autistic teenagers have been given an insight into the world of work.
Eleven youngsters who attend Beverley School, Middlesbrough, took part in a course developed specifically for young people with disabilities, at the Teesside base of TTE Management and Technical Training.
The students, aged between 14 and 17, made small bird feeders and a hanging basket bracket.
Eight TTE trainees, who are involved in the training company's Student Engineering Programme, became "buddies" to the students to assist them during the four-week course.
Trevor Tiit, head of technology at Beverley School, said, "This was an exciting opportunity for our students to experience a workplace environment and enhance their creative skills.
"They have really benefited from this new learning environment and the support of the TTE trainees."
