AN OPERA singer will return from Australia to perform at a concert held for her parents' golden wedding anniversary.
Sarah Sweeting is flying back to her parents' home in Guisborough to perform at Saltburn Community Theatre on August 7. She will team up with baritone Peter Knapp to perform The Opera Review, which includes performances of well-known arias.
Sarah attended Laurence Jackson School, Guisborough, and is a former student of drama and music at Billingham Technical College.
She attended the London College of Music, where she won the director's prize for opera, and has worked in the West End, performing in a national UK tour of Hello Dolly and playing Edith in The Pirates of Penzance at the London Palladium.
After further training at Guildhall College of Music, Sarah, who now lives in Australia sang for the English Festival Opera and the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company.
Her career has taken her to Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Indonesia, Barbados and Australia and in the UK she has performed as a soloist at the Barbican Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Westminster Central Hall and the Albert Hall - as well as several concerts for Yorkshire Cancer Research.
Sarah's mother, Millie Sweeting, said: "We are delighted that she is coming back all the way from Australia to perform for our golden wedding anniversary. "
