THE family of a tourist who lost his arm in a bike smash in Thailand face a huge medical bill before they can bring him home.
Darren Fenwick, 27, is still in hospital and his parents face the bill because he travelled without insurance.
Mother Carol, of Middlesbrough, said: "It's horrible. His life will never be the same again.
"What makes it worse is not knowing what will happen.
"We've had to borrow £3,500 from my mum's funeral mon-ey for my trip out there."
His mother, who cares for her 76-year-old mum Irene Stevenson, visited Thailand last week but could not afford to stay.
Fomer husband, Darren's dad Dave, is keeping a vigil at his bedside in Bangkok.
So far, his family have borrowed more than £6,000 for nine operations to his arm and legs following the accident last month in which Darren came off his motorbike and smashed into a taxi.
The couple have spent £10,000 and need a further £4,500 to fly their son home.
