PENSIONERS are being given the chance to record their memories of the Second World War.

Age Concern County Durham is joining forces with the BBC's People's War Project to stage a session for people to relate their experiences for a website.

The event will be staged at the charity's headquarters, Age Concern House, 7 Atherton Street, Durham, on Tuesday, August 3, between 9.30am and 3pm.

A charity spokesman said: "We are giving people the opportunity to book a place with a BBC tutor or Millennium volunteer, who will help them to register a chosen memory or story on to the BBC's People's War website."

Refreshments will be available in Age Concern House throughout the day for people taking part.

The spokeswoman said: "We hope that everyone will really enjoy this event and that everyone will have the satisfaction of seeing one of their stories recorded on to the website and of knowing that it won't be forgotten.''

To book a place, or obtain more information, call Mariane Patterson on 0191-386 3825 or 0191-374 6364.

The session is part of the charity's programme to bring together young and old people to share activities.
